Every family possesses stories worth preserving. Unfortunately, many memories disappear within only a few generations. Recording family history ensures future descendants understand where they came from and the people who shaped their lives.
Whether through books, interviews, digital archives, photographs, or websites, preserving family stories creates a lasting legacy. Genealogy is ultimately about honoring the lives and experiences of those who came before us while leaving knowledge behind for those yet to come.
The Hinchman Heritage Society was founded on exactly this principle. For more than three decades, our members have worked to gather, verify, and preserve the history of Hinchman and related families across America and the world. Every record digitized, every photograph labeled, every oral history recorded represents a victory against the inevitable loss of time.
You don't need to be a professional genealogist to contribute to your family's legacy. Start small: interview a grandparent, label the photographs in your collection, or write down a memory from your own childhood. Share what you know with the next generation before it is too late. The Hinchman Heritage Society welcomes contributions of all kinds from members who want to help build the most complete record of our shared family history. Together, we preserve not just names and dates, but the living human story of who we are.
