Preserving Family History Since 1994

The Hinchman Heritage Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of the Henchman/Hinchman family — one of America's earliest colonial families, with roots tracing back to 17th-century England. Founded in 1994, we bring together descendants and researchers from across the globe.
The Hinchman family first arrived in America in the mid-1600s, settling in the Philadelphia region of Pennsylvania. Thomas Henchman, among the earliest recorded ancestors, helped establish the family's enduring presence in the New World. Over the following centuries, Hinchmans spread westward — into New Jersey, Ohio, Indiana, and beyond — contributing to the fabric of American colonial, revolutionary, and frontier life.
We serve as the central repository for Hinchman genealogical records, photographs, documents, oral histories, and family stories. Our digital archive houses thousands of records spanning census data, birth and death certificates, military service records, land deeds, marriage records, and personal correspondence — all freely accessible to members and researchers worldwide.
Over three centuries, the Hinchman surname has appeared in many forms across official records, immigration documents, and census rolls. If your family name appears in any of these variants, you may be part of this remarkable lineage:
Thousands of scanned historical documents, photographs, and genealogy records freely searchable online.
An interactive GEDCOM-based family tree with thousands of individuals spanning multiple centuries and continents.
A beloved annual gathering bringing descendants together to share research, stories, and celebrate our shared heritage.
